Family Law Senior Associate

Our firm is looking to add an ambitious, client-oriented family lawyer, with strong litigation experience, to our team. We are looking for a motivated, hard worker who wants to help us build a great firm. The individual must bring a growth mindset, demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and be comfortable litigating. The Senior Associate will take on complex family law files, focusing on complicated financial issues.

This role also provides a path to becoming a Partner. Partnership will depend on the individual demonstrating their ability to manage a full caseload of complex matters, helping the firm win new business, and providing mentoring and guidance to other team members.

Desired qualifications:

  • LLB, JD, or equivalent from a top-tier law school
  • 8+ years of experience practicing in family law with a proven track record of success
  • Strong litigation experience with high conflict/complex cases
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships

Family Law Clerk

Our firm is looking to add a meticulous, highly organized and client-oriented law clerk to support our team of family law lawyers. Knowledge of family court forms, service and filing deadlines and court procedures is a must.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter, looking for a growth opportunity in a flexible working environment. This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in family law and build your career in a growing, modern and diverse law firm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drafting documents, including orders, confirmation forms, correspondence, and other court documents
  • Preparing documents for service and filing with the court
  • Ensuring that all court deadlines are diarized and met
  • Preparing financial statements and disclosure briefs
  • Up-to-date on all court processes, deadlines and notices to professions
  • Assisting with other legal administrative duties as needed

Desired qualifications:

  • Ontario Law Clerk Diploma or a degree in a related legal field
  • 2-4 years of total experience, with a minimum of 1 year within family law
  • Knowledge of Ontario family law rules and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in legal document preparation
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a time sensitive environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Empathy, compassion, and integrity
